UPDATE FOR CLAUDE’s HOTEL

Claude’s Hotel is in it’s final revision stage.

As I brought up before, I consider myself a skeleton writer. This will be the version where my characters have complete interactions, full length descriptions, and thorough explanations.

Once this phase is complete I’ll move onto editing. Editing to me is for grammar, spelling, and correct word usage.

Also, once this is done, I can complete the back cover of the book by adding a description.

Another note, you can learn more about Claude’s Hotel through my twitter!

Also, I’ve been leaving fun facts about Native Foreigners!

Evolution of Claude

Claude is a character in my upcoming novel, Claude’s Hotel. Despite the title, he is not the protagonist. Though, he is an important character and had the most thought development than any other characters the story.

In fact, if you’ve read the fun facts, his character was meant for another story.

SO HERE IS THE EVOLUTION OF CLAUDE

Storyline 1

alex-pettyfer-i-am-number-four-image-2Claude was originally for a love story I was working on. He was an avian/human creature, who was expelled from his home and landed in some girl’s backyard. He was suppose to be a modest blonde guy, who had a heart of gold, but was brought up in bad circumstances.

I imagined him as Alex Pettyfer.

Storyline 2

5fd5f17519519c0c85177a0a32ead970Personally, I’m not a big fan of love stories. So, the above story got boring to write quit. I felt it needed more conflict. So, I made Claude an outcast. This was when I officially named him Claude, because it meant lame. The reason for this was because his character was supposed to be poor an valueless among his kind. There was supposed to be a scene where his wings were cut off with an axe.

Storyline 3

The above story had a good ending, but something wasn’t right. It annoyed me and I realized it was Claude’s character. He was boring. His personality had nothing to offer. In turn, I attempted t make him tougher. I wanted him to do a hostage situation and be mean and threatening. However, I couldn’t pull it off.

Storyline 4

Now we’re getting closer to the current Claude. I had this twisted dream, where I was in a hotel and the manager, Claude was trying to scare the guests. This made me scrap the old Claude. I decided I wanted him cold, emotionless, and dangerous. I thought about renaming his character, but the name Claude felt natural to me. (I name my characters based off my gut feeling.) This Claude was more talkative than my current and more sadistic. Also, this is the first version that doesn’t look like Alex Pettyfer.

This version is taller and has an odd appearance, that can send chills down your spine, yet still handsome.

ClaudesHotelCoverStoryline 5

This is the current Claude. I developed a backstory for him and edited his character to fit. He is still cold and selfish. He isn’t sadistic, however isn’t loving either. He is more calm than the previous one and only speaks when necessary. This one had more manners, despite being more of a habit than courtesy. Also, I added restrictions to his variance to be more realistic and fitting to his character.

The appearance remained the same.

So, there you have it. Claude’s Evolution.

Wait out until this fall for Claude’s Hotel to learn more about Claude.

P.S. Next month we’ll meet the protagonists.

Claude’s Hotel Fun Facts

  2. Claude is not what he seems.
  3. Meg is stronger than she lets on.
  4. The hotel is just a building.
  5. Claude was supposed to be an avian class.
  6. Variant Miltias exist.

  9. Claude’s Hotel was based off an odd dream.
  10. Meg’s name was Medusa, but was changed when I introduced it as a class.
  11. Jamie’s character was created because of Claude’s distinct character change.
  12. Derek went through five name changes including Roger, David, Robert, Daniel, and Mike.
  13. It was originally going to be a romance written in Meg’s pov.
  14. Early drafts included guests competing on staying inside the hotel.
  15. Originally, the hotel held its guests hostage until they begged to leave.
  16. However, that required focus on the guests. So, the idea was scrapped.

Bonus: Claude is my favorite character.

What is Claude’s Hotel?
Claude’s Hotel is a novel currently in the works. It’s predicted to be released in September. It focuses on the not-to-distant future, where a new species of human exists. Of course, they are feared by regular humans and struggle to fit in society. The story focuses on two variants Meg and Jamie as they struggle to adapt to their new job.

If you’re a fan of science fiction, suspense, and a bit of mystery. Then, mark your calendars.

Synopsis: Not long ago, a new species of humans with a unqiue set of cells called variants were born into this world. Now, they suffer many challenges such as fitting into society and obtaining work.

Meg and Jamie are variants and after recieving a job at an abnormal hotel with a recently deceased manager, their lives get even more difficult. The supervisor is unlike any variant they’ve ever met. Secrets are being kept from them, while criminals are being drawn to them.

Nothing makes sense to them as they are currently trapped within the confines of Claude’s Hotel.

Out on Vacation

I know, I know. It was a slow month. I was out on vacation for a whole week with no access to internet. However, I had plenty of access to pictures, so I decided to share some with you guys.

Also, I made a promo image for Claude’s Hotel.

It’s like a weirder version of the cover…

Claude’s Hotel Book Cover

sketch1447875378871_zpsblgfyznlWhat was that? I have spent tons of time trying to come up with a book cover for Claude’s Hotel. Mainly because I suck at design. Yet, after days and this horrid display. I designed it on my phone by myself and it is just pitiful. Seeing it makes me want to cry.

I eventually came up with this:Cover1.jpg

So far I like it. I think it captures the story pretty well. I might edit it a bit, not sure. So far, I’m going to use this as the cover.

Let me know what you think in the comments (or don’t. I’m not your boss.)

Claude’s Hotel Quiz

I made a quiz based off my upcoming novel, PromoimageClaude’s Hotel. The story are about Variants, which is just a fancy name for mutants. Like X-men without all the superhero stuff. Variants are divided in something called classes which determines their special powers and qualities. Also, on twitter I released the promo image that is currently on this blog and the main image of the quiz.

Poetry – Variants

Cool Feathers How is this relevant? You will never know… until 2016.

I think I’ve told you about my work in progress about variants. If you’re on my twitter you’ve probably have seen #claudeshotel,  #variants, and #2016book.  We’ll I’m halfway done with draft two and out of a sprint of inspiration, I have written a poem about the story.

It was originally going to be a balled, but it turned into some distorted song. I don’t know anymore.  Who knows I’ll probably edit it and add it as a bonus in the story.

Welp, here it is Variants (Poem Edition)

Born to live in exile
Wrapped up behind these bars
Forcing the world to avoid us
Because we’re living projectiles.

Tossed away
Where the shadows play
Forced into a corner

Broken down
Til our face hits the ground
Do you think we can take this torture?

People refuse to look our way
In there eyes there’s fear
As if we’re monsters
Why does everyone look away?

Tossed away
Where the shadows play
We must push ourselves forward

Broken down
Til our face hits the ground
I’ll do what it takes to get stronger

Don’t you dare
And try to tell me this is fair
I see you live
Our lives cannot compare

We’re tossed away
To where the shadows play
We’re broken down
Until our face hits the ground

All we want is to be the same
So why do you treat us this way
We are not so different from you
So stop treating us like we’re lame

Running away
From the shadows’ games

Standing up
We won’t be tamed

Hold our heads up with pride
There is no escaping
There is no denying.
We must close the divide
